This week (from 11/6-11/15) is San Diego Beer Week 2009, where all things craft beer are celebrated throughout San Diego with special dinners, seminars, discounted tastings, and other events hosted by participating breweries. Some examples of the merriment include Green Flash Brewing Tasting and Tours, Craft Beer and Chocolate Happy Hour, and San Diego Brewing Co. Beer Dinner. A full schedule of events is available on the official SDBW website, sdbw.org.
What, you may ask, does this have to do with us Orange County folks who can’t make the drive down south for the festivities? Well, just so you’re not left out, I’ve compiled a list of a couple events (beyond your typical Happy Hour) taking place right here in OC this week that will help you celebrate your appreciation for craft brews, too.
Cask Night at Karl Strauss Costa Mesa – Thursday, 11/12
Karl Strauss Costa Mesa will be serving $3.50 pints of Red Trolley Ale on cask all Thursday evening ‘til it runs out. This beer is full of carmelized malt flavor, with a deep copper color. It’s one that Karl offers as a standard brew, but proves to be even more delicious served on cask. For more information on Cask Night, please see my post entitled “Thank goodness it’s (almost) Thursday! Thursday cask beer night at Karl Strauss.”
Craft Beer Tasting at Frogs Breath Cheese Store (Orange) – Friday, 11/13 from 12:30-7:30 pm
This craft beer tasting will be $8.00, and includes the following samples:
Russian River Damnation, Santa Rosa CA

*You can also sample an individual cheese tray with cheeses paired specifically with the beers featured in the tasting for $14.50.
